David Nalbandian returned from injury on Monday with an impressive 6-4, 6-0 victory against Rajeev Ram
David Nalbandian looked sharp on his return to action, having been sidelined since April with a hamstring problem. The former world number three has gradually slipped down the rankings since undergoing hip surgery in 2009, and will be keen to get back into the top hundred.
The Argentine was ranked inside the top twenty less than a year ago, and his comeback performances should be worth keeping an eye on. His victory against Ram, the world number one-hundred and fifty-three, was certainly no shock, but the manner of the victory was convincing.
Nalbandian will face seventh seed Stanislas Wawrinka in the next round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, and this should provide a sterner test of Nalbandian’s resolve. Should he progress to the latter stages this week, he’s likely to enter into a testing quarter final against Andy Roddick.
