The remaining first round men’s matches and women’s second round action will be played at the Apia International Sydney 2013 on Tuesday.
It will be top women’s seed Agnieszka Radwanska to get us going at the Ken Rosewall Arena on Tuesday when she takes on Japanese Kimiko Date-Krumm in her second round match. Immediately following this will be fourth seeded Li Na, who takes on Japanese qualifier Ayumi Morita in another second round encounter.
Interestingly, both Radwanska and Na enter this tournament with title wins in the previous week. While Radwanska won at Auckland, Na bagged the title at Shenzhen.
In the evening session, two local boys, Bernard Tomic and Marinko Matosevic will play their opening round against each other.
A couple of women seeds will be in action at the Grandstand on Tuesday. First up will be an exciting match-up between third seeded Sara Errani, who takes on Maria Kirilenko in their second round which will be followed in the afternoon by Caroline Wozniacki taking court. The Danish seventh seed plays Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova in second round action.
Action on courts 5 and 6 will begin with the two remaining seeds in the first round of the men’s draw. Sixth seeded Radek Stepanek plays Guillermo Garcia-Lopez while seventh seeded Jeremy Chardy takes on Feliciano Lopez for place in the second round.
Singles action gets completed at court 6 with second seeded German Angelique Kerber taking on Kazakh qualifier Galina Voskoboeva in her second round.
