The third week of the X Factor live shows was ‘club classics’ week and was full of cheesy dance moves along with the usual varying degree of vocal abilities.
The elimination was forced to go to deadlock and down to the public vote for the third week in a row, meaning the judges are still yet to decide the fate of the acts themselves. Kye Sones and MK1 were in the bottom two but MK1 were the victims of the third live show receiving the least public votes.
Kye Sones secured more public votes than MK1 ensuring he kept his place in the X Factor. He sang well with the same version of Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Save the World’ he performed in his first audition and was compared to the likes of Chris Martin by the judges. However it was not enough to save him from the bottom two. This could be down to his performance the previous week in which his own mentor Gary Barlow informed him that his vocals were flat 32 times, and he is at odds of 11/4 in X Factor betting to be eliminated this week.
Ironically MK1 were one of the most suited acts to this week’s theme as the only urban act on this year’s X Factor, but an unfortunate song choice put them in the bottom two. They performed a mash up of Crystal Waters’ ‘Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)’ and Tinie Tempah’s ‘Pass Out’. The first half of the song was arguably one of their best performances but was followed with an unoriginal, vocally weak version of ‘Pass Out’ which saw them eliminated from the show.
One of the strongest acts of the night was James Arthur, who is now at 6/1 in X Factor betting to win outright and is our tied second favourite to do so. He performed a version of LMFAO’s ‘Sexy and I Know It’ which he totally transformed to make his own. His vocals were on key and Gary Barlow described it at the performance of the series – a huge compliment from the usual bearer of bad news. James Arthur is at 33/1 to be eliminated this week and is at 10/11 to be the top boy, making it look unlikely for him to be leaving the X Factor this week.
Ella Henderson is still our favourite to win the X Factor outright at odds of 8/13 with
Stan James however week three was probably her least impressive performance yet. Although her vocals were incredible as per usual she was criticised for her cheesy dance moves that were described as very 90’s. Ella was still one of the strongest performers of the night however, and was again compared to Adele. At a massive 100/1 in X Factor betting to be eliminated this week the dance moves obviously weren’t that bad.
X Factor betting indicates the bottom two this week could be Rylan Clark and Christopher Maloney who are both at 3/1 to be the fourth act eliminated from the show. Rylan Clark has been dubbed the joke act of the series and seems to enjoy living up to his name.
An over the top performance of a Jennifer Lopez and Rhianna mash up saw him safely through to this week although most will agree he is not a strong contender to win the X Factor, and is at 100/1 to do so in X Factor betting. Christopher Maloney‘s outdated song choices have led to him being described as a cruise ship singer, and at 50/1 to win the X Factor outright with
Stan James the win is not looking too likely for the loveable Liverpudlian.
3/1 Rylan Clark
3/1 Christopher Maloney
11/4 Kye Sones
13/2 District 3
