Here is our preview of all seven races at Plumpton this afternoon with our tips in capital letters.
TURN OVER SIVOLA was narrowly denied when favourite at Taunton last month but he sets a decent standard here and could prove very tough to beat this afternoon. Looking Hopeful has shown plenty of promise in bumpers and he has to be of interest on his hurdling debut. Mon Desir took a step in the right direction when runner-up at Stratford last month and he has each-way claims along with Invicta Lake. Good Boy Jackson is also respected.
BROADBACKBOB ended last season with a rating of 142 over hurdles and providing his jumping holds up, he should have little difficulty making a successful chasing debut this afternoon. Tempo De Cotte won over fences in France in September and it will be interesting to see how he fares on his first run for Paul Nicholls. Sweet Irony was a shade disappointing on his chasing debut at Fontwell back in May but he possesses plenty of ability and has obvious place prospects here.
Letsby Avenue won a Haydock bumper in April and he is accorded the utmost respect making his hurdling debut. Ace Fighter Pilot ran out a most impressive winner on his hurdles bow at Hereford in the summer and he should give a good account here. Ballylifen should be capable of opening his account before long but this can go the way of BILLY MERRIOTT. He got off the mark in good style at Hereford in May and there could be plenty more improvement to come from him.
Lord Singer was narrowly denied over 2m at Lingfield last week and a reproduction of that effort would give him a big chance here. Qoubilai is entitled to strip fitter for his Taunton reappearance effort last month and he could be on the premises but it might be worth taking a chance on CAMDEN. He performed better than his finishing position suggests on his chasing/seasonal debut at Stratford and a mark of 115 looks fair based on the pick of his hurdles form.
Just Beware has been raised 7lb for her 2m success here earlier this month but that might not prevent another bold bid. Petit Ecuyer is capable of better than he showed over fences at Warwick last time and he is worth a second look back over hurdles here. Gilded Age has been struggling of late but he is beginning to look very attractively handicapped and should not be overlooked. Jim Best saddles both On The Feather and BEGGAR'S OPERA and whilst the first named appears to be the stable first string on form, the latter is also an interesting contender and could provide a value alternative.
A reproduction of his Warwick second earlier this month would give Pacha D'Oudairies every chance and Dushy Valley is sure to prove popular despite an 11lb rise for his C&D success last time. However, slightly preferred ahead of both is BALLINHASSIG. A winner over this C&D in January, he might well have followed up had he not fallen at the last here subsequently and he might still have a little more to offer.
MIXOLOGIST had to settle for second best on his debut over this C&D but that was still a promising effort nonetheless and he is entitled to improve for the experience. The standard he sets is probably a fair one and he is fancied to go one better today. There are a few interesting newcomers in opposition, however, and any confidence behind Days Gone By, Viva Steve or Fountains Mary would be interesting.
