Here is our preview of all seven races at Leaopardstown this evening with our tips in capital letters.
Jembatt returned to the winner's enclosure over 7f at the Curragh recently but his chances of exploiting his attractive mark (officially 5lb well in) would have been boosted if granted an extra furlong. Over this shorter trip, preference is for STRIKE ACTION (7/1), who opened her account over this trip on the all-weather at Dundalk and looks capable of exploiting a mark of 74 on what is only her sixth start. Recent 7f Galway scorer Kanes Pass is another with place possibilities.
SNOW QUEEN (11/8) left behind a disappointing C&D debut effort with a creditable Group 3 fifth on her last start at this venue. Aidan O'Brien's filly did finish comfortably held at the line but was taking on some classy juveniles. A repeat of that effort, dropped back into maiden company tonight, would see her go close. The main dangers may be lurking amongst the newcomers and both Scintillula and Bracing Breeze merit close inspection in the betting.
Fastidious turned in a creditable front-running display over this trip at Cork last time and, after weakening late in the day on slow ground, is a potential improver back on a faster surface here. The most interesting one in the race, however, is CIRCLE (3/1), who failed to land a blow in the closing stages over 1m4f at Galway but could improve now there is less emphasis on stamina. Mona Brown could improve now granted good ground and is also considered.
C&D scorer Duff is slipping in the weights and would be a popular winner but he looks vulnerable to an improver at present and is taken on. Piri Wango is a speedy individual and shaped like this trip would be ideal when fifth in the 1m Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. He's out in box 11 here, though, so the vote goes to SEAN OG COULSTON (11/2), who lost little in defeat when third behind the useful Pintura at Galway and has slipped to a tasty mark himself. Fairy Wing and Elusive In Paris both have place possibilities.
HALL OF MIRRORS (13/8) was outpaced over 7f on debut at the Curragh and shaped as if this extra furlong would be ideal. His price rose to 150,000gns as a yearling and holds a spate of high profile entries, including in the Dewhurst. Military Device is a half-brother to Pattern winners and looks the main danger on the back of a fair debut fourth over track and trip last month. Approval Given took a forward step when fourth over 7f here recently and is another for the shortlist.
Dermot Weld has a strong record in this race, winning four of the last 10 renewals, most recently with Famous Name in 2009. This year's representative, Rock Critic, is respected on the back of his hurdles victory at Galway but others look more suited to this shorter trip. Requisition steps back up in grade after scoring at Listed level at the Curragh and Sandringham Handicap winner Duntle is also respected. The one to beat, however, looks to be John Oxx's classy TAKAR (2/1), who is a C&D winner and bids for a hat-trick after his recent Group 3 success in a small field at the Curragh. If taking to the better ground, a bold bid looks assured.
Cebuano scored very comfortably over 1m3f at Dundalk recently but the handicapper has reacted accordingly in handing him a 9lb rise. There may well be more to come from him around middle distances, but marginal preference is for MAAL (5/1). Although more exposed than the first-named, David Marnane's charge has dropped 17lb below his last winning mark, boasts C&D-winning form, and could improve for the fitting of blinkers. King of Dudes looks best of the rest and has place possibilities.
