Ryan Moore has been giving his verdict on his rides on the opening day of Glorious Goodwood 2013.
Ryan Moore has seven booked rides on day one of Glorious Goodwood and here the
Betfair Ambassador talks exclusively about the chances of each.
13:55 Goodwood - Labarinto
Is a bit of a frustrating horse to be honest, and he again didn't run up to his best in the Wolferton on his reappearance at Ascot. But he has been dropped 3lb as a result and I do think that he is a fairly-treated off 99 if on a going day, as his defeat of Prussian over 1m2f at Sandown last September reads well - the runner-up won next time and has progressed since, and they pulled clear of the third. And, of course, he won at this meeting two years ago as well. But I am drawn 15 of 18, so I am going to need all the luck going just to get a clear run here. I presume Fast Or Free, on whom I won the Britannia last season, will be the favourite: I think he has the ability to be better than a 96-rated horse at the end of the season but this could be too big an ask first time up.
14:30 Goodwood - Supplicant
You can give a leading chance to four or five in here, and luckily my mount is one of those. He has shown plenty of pace in all three of his starts, and of course his best effort came when he finished second to Extortionist in the Windsor Castle at Ascot last time. That form looks ok. You can ignore the winner's poor run in the Papin last time as he pulled far too hard - today's rivals Anticipated, who finished a short head behind me at Ascot, and Ambiance finished 5th and 6th there - the fifth My Catch won a couple in France last week and a few in behind, like Sacha Park and Haikbidiac, have run well in defeat since. He is probably my best chance of the day.
15:05 Goodwood - Garswood
Aljamaaheer looks the one to beat in here after his Queen Anne second but the fact that he carries a 4lb penalty for his Group 2 win at Ascot last time at least levels it up a bit for the rest of us. He is still my idea of the winner, although there are some fair horses up against him: Krypton Factor is interesting stepping up to 7f, Producer must have a fair chance, and I have to tell you that I was very impressed by Professor's win at Salisbury and he could be the interesting one at a price.
But Garswood is certainly not without a chance either and he has an each way shout. I was quite taken by the manner of his Free Handicap win and gave him an each way chance in the Guineas on the back of that, only for him to disappoint his connections in the Classic. But he ran much better last time when fourth in the Jersey and let's hope he can build on that again here.

I think he probably beat a well-treated horse in Caravan Rolls On at Ascot last time, and they pulled clear of the third. So, although he is 7lb higher today, he may not be handicapped out of this. But it clearly makes life a lot harder, as does the draw. That was his first attempt over 1m6f though, so perhaps there is more to come from him. Also won at this meeting last year, and doesn't have many miles on the clock either.
16:15 Goodwood - Brazos
I think Sacha Park is the one to beat. But if he is going to be beaten, then I think I have the best shot of doing so on what we have seen on the track so far. The form of his Warwick debut second over 7f was franked when the third won an Ascot nursery for me off a mark of 83 last week, and he probably bumped into a smart one of Kevin Ryan's at York last time when racing over this trip. Has an obvious chance.
16:50 Goodwood - Juvenal
Won nicely on his final start of 2012, appearing to score with a fair bit in hand. Has not been out since though and the cheekpieces he wore for that win aren't on here, either. I am not sure why, to be honest. Hopefully, there is more to come from him, but being drawn 15 of 20 tells its own story. Namely, we are bang up against it.
17:25 Goodwood - Lost In Paris
I think I rode him when he was beaten favourite in this race three years ago, but probably best not to mention that! Makes a quick reappearance after winning over the minimum trip at Catterick last week, when he was never headed in a two length win. Has chances on that form, but the doubt is that he seems to reserve his best for Catterick these days and carries a 6lb penalty. But I suppose that you have to give him a fair shout in an obviously very competitive race.
