Here is our preview of all eight races at Dundalk on Friday night with our tips in capital letters.
Following three moderate attempts in maiden company, ZAINDA displayed marked improvement when dead-heating for second on her handicap bow here over 7f latest. Victor's Beach, the winner on that occasion, may just struggle in confirming the form at these revised terms as John Oxx's charge can benefit from a 3lb swing in the weights but he's respected nonetheless, along with Sherzam (fourth), who can take full advantage of a 7lb claimer in the saddle.
LILY OF KENMARE looks to have been handed a real opening in division one of the maiden. The well-bred daughter of Exceed And Excel couldn't justify favouritism here over track and trip latest when bumping into the rapidly-improving Epic Encounter, but this looks a weaker race on paper and she should have more to offer after just two career starts. La Belle Maison is feared most now tried in the first-time blinkers, while I Hear A Symphony rates best of the rest.
OH SO LUCY looks the one to be on in division two of the maiden. The Galileo filly has failed to land a blow over the extended 1m2f the last twice and is very much respected coming back to 1m on the all-weather surface. Not beaten far behind Wading here over 7f in September last year, that sort of form would be good enough against these rivals, but Great Soprano and Legal Lyric are open to more improvement and cannot be completely overlooked.
DIMITAR ran out a cosy winner and wasn't without his supporters here nine days ago. Up 7lb for that C&D success, the son of Mizzen Mast is open to much more improvement at this stage of his career and can go from strength-to-strength with that first win under his belt. Clare Harrier arrives in good nick and knows his way around here, but Alvar is feared most having shaped as though this step up in trip would suit over 7f the last day.
With this 7f trip expected to prove too sharp for Elleval, who was last seen running on strongly here over 1m, it could be worth siding with ELUSIVE ICE. Beaten a short head on her racecourse debut over this track and trip last month, expect this juvenile to show improvement and she won't mind being held up in mid-division from a wide draw in stall 10. Rapid Approach is very well bred and is another to consider carefully as he continues to show progression on each visit to the track.
Up 2lb for his agonising defeat to Alvar last week, OCEAN DRIFT is worth another look back over 6f. The gelded son of Stormy Atlantic was headed and beaten by the narrowest of margins over 7f on that occasion, but he remains feasibly treated and should regain the winning thread if in a similar mood. Pierre D'or has done his current mark no favours in defeat of late but is another threatening to score and cannot be dismissed, along with recent course third Like Magic.
IF PER CHANCE makes a great deal of appeal having bounced back from a miserable C&D effort to post a highly creditable second over 1m earlier this month. The winner has franked the form with a solid effort in defeat since and John Hanlon's charge is fancied to record his first success since February, having subsequently come down 12lb in the ratings. Edith Cowan looks to be getting to grips with this surface and remains open to plenty of further progress, but Castle Gust is feared most following his encouraging comeback run here last Wednesday.
ALADDINS CAVE is a very decent horse in both codes, highlighting the fact with a hurdles/Flat double at Fairyhouse and here respectively last month. A 4lb rise in the ratings for his half-length defeat of King Of Aran last time doesn't appear too harsh and he holds strong claims again. Shake The Bucket has four course wins to his name and is only 7lb higher than when scoring on his penultimate since, since when he's gone down fighting behind Roe Deer. Rigoletta is another for the shortlist as he promises to be suited by the move up to 1m4f.
