Here is our preview of all eight races at Dundalk on Friday night with our tips in capital letters.
MISCHIEF N MAYHEM shaped with plenty of promise on debut over track and trip last month, staying on for second and hinting she'd be seen to better effect next time out with the benefit of that initial experience behind her. Opera Gloves, who similarly landed minor money over C&D on debut last month, heads the list of possible dangers, with Jim Bolger's Zelie Martin feared most amongst the newcomers.
Golden Shoe will no doubt prove popular having scored over C&D off 4lb lower last week and is entitled to be thereabouts once again. Badger Daly, who was sixth behind the selection lately, looks to have place claims too, now reopposing off 6lb better terms, but preferred ahead of both is C&D winner LORD KENMARE, who stayed on strongly for second over an inadequate 7f on Wednesday and should improve for the return to 1m.
Miracle Cure opened his account in a C&D maiden in February and returned to the winner's enclosure over 1m2f at Leopardstown latest. He's 9lb higher here, however, and it might instead be worth taking a chance on BILLYFORD, a fellow track and trip winner who hinted a return to form was imminent when fourth over 7f here last time. Recent 7f winner Captain Joy is consistent and should also give a good account, despite a recent 6lb rise.
FARMLEIGH HOUSE is holding his form really well at the moment and built upon a number of solid efforts when striking over C&D three weeks ago (reopposing Almadaa back in third). The assessor has reacted with an 8lb rise but he's evidently at one with himself at present and there may well be more to come. Copper Dock is penalised for his C&D victory on Wednesday and looks the main danger, as Knock Stars is another held by the selection on recent running and My Good Brother races from 3lb out of the handicap.
Pierre D'or was tapped for toe in the closing stages over 6f last time and is a potential improver now granted this extra yardage. Stall 10 is less than ideal, however, so perhaps it may pay to take a chance on GOLD FALCON, who was far from disgraced off this mark on turf for David Simcock and could improve for the switch of stable now returned to polytrack (placed at Wolverhampton on debut) on the back of a break. Romeo's On Fire and Spirit Of Grace are others handicapped to be thereabouts.
Fast On has been consistent on turf this year and sharpened up his fitness with a spin over hurdles at Punchestown last month. Another bold bid is forecast off what looks a workable mark, but preference is for WHATYOUMAYCALLIT, who was an outpaced fourth over 6f latest but will relish this extra furlong (beaten by just a head off 1lb lower over C&D previously). Dark Danger and Doonard Prince have place claims on the pick of their best form and are others considered.
Top-weight BENSOON rates the one to beat after a 5lb rise for his recent victory here over the extended 1m2f. Noverre Princess was second behind the selection that day and looks to have place possibilities now reopposing off 3lb better terms. Mulleady was fifth in Grade 3 novice hurdle company at Down Royal last month and is another worthy of shortlist inclusion now switched back to the level off a mark of just 63.
A 7lb rise for scoring over the extended 1m2f here last week may prevent Asian Wing from following up, and a chance is instead taken on STAR POWER. Jim Bolger's Galileo gelding scores lowly for consistency but notched his sole win here in maiden company and has now dropped to a career-low mark, one which he's capable of exploiting if putting his best foot forward. Alghanem is up 12lb for his recent course win but at least brings recent winning form to the table - which therefore entitles him to respect in a weak heat.
