World No.2 Tiger Woods will have the favourites tag when he returns to action in the CIMB Classic this week.
The tournament is held at the Mines Resort & Golf Club in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia and is co-sanctioned by the PGA tour and the Asian tour. The first ever sanctioned by the PGA tour in Southeast Asia.
The CIMB Classic 2012 sees an impressive field of 48 players, with 30 from the PGA tour and the top 10 players from the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit making for some exciting golf betting.
The rest of the field will be made up of sponsor’s exemptions such as two Malaysian professionals – Danny Chia (250/1 to win the tournament outright) and Shaaban Hussin (500/1 to win the tournament outright). Tiger Woods is the name to watch in this tournament though as he is competing for the first time in Malaysia since winning the individual and team titles in the 1999 World Cup.
Tiger Woods is favourite to come away with the win at 10/3 with
Stan James in golf betting followed by Jason Dufner at 15/2. Dufner played in the tournament last year finishing T10 and is having an impressive career in the greens with one of his most consistent and successful seasons on the PGA tour this year. He has seen himself inside the top 10 standings since late May and is sure to feature in this tournament.
While Dufner led the FedExCup standings for over a month, Nick Watney is also having a wonderful career and took pole position from No. 49 in the standings marking it the first time in 2012 that he had been in the top 10 since the 2011 Tour Championship.
This gave him his fifth career PGA Tour victory and he’s currently our fourth favourite for the win in Malaysia priced at 20/1 with
Stan James.
Woods will be teeing up with past winners Ben Crane and Bo Van Pelt. Van Pelt is joint second favourite for the win pre-tournament along with Dufner at 15/2 in golf betting and his early confirmation has given this year’s event a great deal of early momentum.
Van Pelt won the title last year in humid conditions and set a new tournament record in Malaysia, this makes him another one to keep a close eye on throughout this tournament.
7/4 Tiger Woods
15/2 Jason Dufner
15/2 Bo Van Pelt
20/1 Nick Watney
22/1 Seung-Yul Noh
