Europe have produced a stunning final-day comeback to win the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah Golf Club.
With the United States requiring only four points from the 12 on offer, Europe incredibility won eight and a half points from the 12 on offer to clinch a historic 14½-13½ win.
It was Germany's Martin Kaymer who sank a five-foot putt on the 18th green against Steve Stricker to get his team to the 14 points needed to retain the trophy, before a Tiger Woods bogey against Francesco Molinari in the final match gifted the European's an unforgettable overall victory.
"We know what it feels like now from the '99 Ryder Cup," said US captain Davis Love. "It's a little bit shocking. We were playing so well."
Ian Poulter who won all four of his points this week said afterwards "The best team I've ever seen, and the best captain I've ever seen."
Justin Rose who had a phenomenal win over Phil Mickelson winning the last two holes to beat the American one up said "We are in shock. We wanted to believe but we had no illusions of how hard that day was going to be."
