Punters were left shell-shocked after Galway defied the odds by beating the reigning All-Ireland Hurling Champions in impressive fashion.
The tribesman’s odds have been slashed into 3/1 from 11/1 to lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup after their impressive performance at Croke Park.
Kilkenny’s demise forced Boylesports to push out their odds out to 10/11 from 4/9 to win the All Ireland SHC title but they still remain the favourites for glory. Tipperary can be backed at 3/1, while Cork are the next best in the betting at 12/1.
In football action, Cork remained unchanged as the 9/4 favourites to win the Sam Maguire after claiming the Munster SFC title at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick yesterday.
“It was a tough weekend for punters who had splurged out on Kilkenny demolishing their rivals in the handicap betting and expecting the Cats to win by at least six points”, commented Nicola McGeady, Boylesports PR Spokesperson.
“It was the biggest shock of the season but punters reckon Brian Cody’s men have plenty left in the tank and will be thereabouts come September once again”, she continued.
