GAA investigating illegal payments
Director General Paraic Duffy has been charged with cracking down on illegal payments to GAA club managers.
The GAA has tasked Duffy to eliminate illegal payments and roll out a scheme set to target clubs, as well as the inter-county scene.
Speaking to livesport.ie Duffy said, “the problem doesn’t just relate to the inter-county scene. In fact, there’s evidence that it’s a bigger problem at club level. We want to address it in its entirety so that everybody knows where they stand”.
Duffy also made it clear that action was necessary, stating, “The least acceptable option is to continue to proclaim a value and, at the same time, ignore it. And expressing a determination, genuine as it might be, is meaningless unless followed by effective action”.
