Ex-GAA sports journalist Jerome Quinn’s tribunal case for racial discrimination and unfair dismissal from the BBC has been rejected. Quinn’s contract with the BBC was terminated last year after the journalist was found to have criticised his employer through anonymous internet posts.

He initially began his case by claiming that the BBC had a “protestant and British prejudice”. He had also stated, amongst other things, that BBC presenter Jackie Fullerton had held meetings with the BBC to ensure that a GAA sportsman would not win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.

The tribunal has since accused Quinn of being disingenuous, misleading and evasive, commenting that Quinn had painted an inaccurate picture of the BBC. The tribunal announced that the evidence for Quinn’s case was lacking, so the case has been dismissed.
