Galway to face Wexford in round two of the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship
Galway will face Wexford on Saturday in round two of the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship, in a match that looks set to be a thriller. The two sides haven’t met in the championship since 1925, when Galway thrashed Wexford 3-4 to 1-1 at Croke Park.
Galway and Wexford could both go a long way in the championship, and either side could have gone further in their provincial tournaments had they only been more fortunate. Galway are taking part in this fixture having made the Connacht semi finals, where they were beaten 1-14 to 0-16 by Sligo in a replay. Wexford, on the other hand, find themselves in this situation having been beaten 2-16 to 0-15 by Dublin in the Leinster quarterfinals.
Wexford therefore had to get through round one, but their first round draw against London was never likely to be problematic. Wexford eased past the Londoners by 4-22 to 0-9. Opinion is divided as to which team will win this match, and it’s likely that this one could go down to the wire.
