The incredible spending spree of Manchester City looks set to continue, as Mario Balotelli is said to be close to a move to Eastlands
Much speculation has surrounded Balotelli of late, with Manchester City and Manchester United touted as potential suitors. Currently, it seems that City’s interest is more substantial.
Sir Alex Ferguson went on record claiming to be content with his squad, so a big money move for the Inter star is unlikely. City, on the other hand, haven’t stopped spending, signing Aleksandar Kolarov a few days ago. An agreement is yet to be reached for Balotelli, but City are poised to make the youngster a City player in the near future.
Whilst Balotelli might move to the Premier League, Rafael Van Der Vaart denied rumours linking him with a move to Chelsea or Liverpool. The Real Madrid playmaker announced that he was ‘determined to stay at Real Madrid’, so it’s likely that he’ll stay in Spain during the current transfer window at least.
Manchester City’s attempts to sign Aston Villa’s James Milner are yet to succeed, and the Villa man has held talks with his current club, having recently returned for training. The talks were said to be amicable, though nothing more was revealed about Milner’s future.
Javier Mascherano also held talks with his club. The Argentine midfielder met Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson on his return to training, and his future also remains in the balance.
