Liverpool’s Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano looks set to leave Anfield
Javier Mascherano held talks with manager Roy Hodgson, and made it clear that he desired to leave Liverpool. His departure has been anticipated for a while now, and potential suitors such as Inter Milan have been linked with the Liverpool star.
Mascherano has been a solid presence at Anfield, and built a reputation off the back of his impressive work-rate and crunching tackles. He made his name in his home country with River Plate, and went on to play for Corinthians-SP and West Ham United respectively.
Hodgson said, “Yes, he wants to leave the club. He’s made that perfectly clear. I think he wanted to leave a year ago. He wants to leave now as well”. Hodgson has not guided Mascherano to the exit though, stating that the midfielder is still a Liverpool player, and will continue being treated as one for now.
