    Summary

There are plenty of good reasons to become a Unibet customer, especially if you like betting on UK and European football. The Swedish-owned company are very smart to recognise the increasing popularity of football, ensuring they cover a multitude of leagues with a plethora of markets. They bet to tight margins, so it’s definitely worth checking their prices before committing to a bet. The same applies across many pan-European sports such as tennis, basketball plus many sports that are popular in Scandinavia like ice hockey.

The website is clean and crisp, while the In-Play console is as dynamic as anything else out there. These guys mean business with their product offerings and their commitment to 24 / 7 customer service in a whole host of languages. At the time of writing, there are 25 different language options and the site has been translated into all of them, making Unibet a truly global bookmaker.

    Background

Unibet are a Swedish-owned company who were founded in 1997 and now claim to have over 4.4 million customers in over 100 countries. In 1998, the company were granted a license in the UK to run a betting operation and started taking bets over the telephone. A year later, Unibet had a website running in Swedish and English, which reflects their customer base.

Indeed, although their registered office is based in Malta, Scandinavia is the true stronghold for Unibet right now, who are a major player in Sweden and Denmark. They are one of the largest privately owned bookmakers in Europe and are listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. The group employ roughly 450 employees and have won awards for their In-Play betting and customer service.

    Odds and Markets

You can’t accuse Unibet of exaggerating their number of sports markets, and they deserve top marks for listing how many are available on each sport. At the time of writing, there is barely any football taking place, so they also deserve credit for having over 1000 markets available on this sport. How is this possible? Simply because they are on a mission to cover every league in Europe, including countries like Iceland and Slovakia. Naturally, they are very in-depth when it comes to Sweden.

In addition to football, they cover every other sport that you would expect from a big European bookmaker. Don’t expect any horse racing markets or odds in a hurry, but they are big on tennis, golf and ice hockey. Their odds are generally quite competitive, especially on Premier League football where they try to gain an edge on their better-known rivals. As you might expect, they bet to a much larger margin on their In-Play markets.

    Website

The Unibet website seems to improve every time we visit and it’s a very professional offering, which employs a green and white colour scheme to good effect. The first thing you see is a glossy rotating graphic which highlights the big upcoming sporting events and you will also find a mini preview and odds of big football matches underneath this. A window to the Live section of the Unibet is also displayed on the homepage, although the In-Play betting facility is detached from the rest of the site in a pop-up format.

It’s a dynamic live offering from Unibet, with the game data being clearly displayed and the various markets and prices popping up in different boxes underneath. On the main sportsbook homepage, there are also links for quick links for French Horse Racing and Travnet Live Racing, the latter of which is popular in Scandinavia. All the remaining sports are listed in a left-hand menu and Unibet detail how many markets are available for each one.

    Customer Service

Unibet have a very impressive customer service which includes 24/7 support. There is a Freephone number available for UK customers, as well as live chat and email contact available. The service desk seems to be well-manned and the staff there deal with your queries politely and respectfully.
